Overview:
The GVBL Tournament Basketball Program has been established to provide a more competitive, stronger level of basketball than intramural or recreational programs offered to GVSD kids. The commitment to practice is greater and the development of the players is accelerated. The primary objective for the tournament team will be to train and develop the players on a higher level, providing an opportunity for them to excel in a more competitive, yet fun environment.

General Info:
ALL GVBL TOURNAMENT TEAM MEMBERS MUST HAVE BEEN REGISTERED AS A PLAYER IN THE CURRENT GVBL SEASON.

Tournament Team head coaches who have volunteered to coach will be assigned by the GVBL Board of Directors as GVBL Tournament Team head coaches. All interested coaches should fill out an application and submit it to the Tournament Team Committee or GVBL Director.

The Tournament Teams will be chosen by the Tournament Team coaches with oversight from the Tournament Team Committee. For each Tournament Team, there will be tryouts for the players to establish the roster. A sign up process is followed for parents/players to specify interest in the Tournament Team. Sign-up sheets will be available at GVBL. GVBL Tournament Team Committee and Coaches will determine final roster selections based on player observation during tryouts, the GVBL regular season, parent/player commitment to the program, player sportsmanship and attitude, skill level, etc.

Practices will typically be held at one of the GVBL Center or GVSD schools during the weekday evenings or on weekends. GVBL Tournament teams will generally practice a minimum of once a week.

The Tournament Team schedules will vary by team but may include several tournaments throughout the winter, spring and summer months. GVBL's goal is to play 20+ games per tournament team. Additional league play may also be scheduled depending on player interest, coach availability and court availability.

The cost per family will vary from team to team with a financial commitment estimated at $300-500 depending on the season, number of tournaments played and other factors. Initial costs will typically consist of a consistent base payment for all players that will cover court time for practice, uniforms, equipment and the entry fee for 4 Tournaments. Players will then play for additional Tournaments as the season continues based on the roster for each event. Additional costs may apply for team entry in league play (such as Malvern League or ICBA).

Tournament Team Committee:
The committee will oversee the Tournament Team Program. The Tournament Team Committee and the Tournament Team coordinator will assist Tournament Team coaches with practice schedules, developing tournament schedules, coordinating fundraising and any additional duties relating to the GVBL Tournament Teams. The Tournament Team Committee will meet periodically throughout the year and serve a term of one year beginning the first day of October each calendar year. The GVBL Board of Directors will govern all Tournament Team activities and may remove any committee member from their duties, make program changes or take other action at their sole discretion.
