WINTER BASKETBALL
The Great Valley Basketball League (GVBL) is now accepting registrations for our 2014/2015 season for boys and girls in grades 1 - 8.

Skills Assessments Schedule REVISED 10/22/14

Key Dates:
  • October 20-30: Skills Assessments; all players attend one of these sessions.
  • November 1-2: Teams are selected by coaches.
  • November 8: Team picture and uniform distribution day.
  • November 11-13: Practices begin
  • November 14: Games begin
  • February 19 - early March 2015: Playoffs for Grades 3 - 8.
  • February 22, 2015: Grades 1 and 2 tournament
We are always in need of coaches, referees, administrators, fund raisers, etc. Please consider how you can help us to continue offering these programs by getting involved. The best way to let us know that you can help is to note this in the corresponding section of your child's registration form or by sending us an email at gvcointern@gmail.com

Our High School League will begin its signup process in November. Please visit our website for details at that time.

GRADE 4 GIRLS TOURNAMENT TEAM
The Grade 6 Girls Tournament Team will have two open gym sessions on Saturday Nov. 1st from 5-6:30PM and Wednesday Nov. 5th from 5:30-7PM. Regular practices will commence the week of November 10th (time tbd). In order to be considered for the tournament team a completed sign up form will be required by October 30th. Please complete the form and email it to Todd Fredrick at wtoddfredrick@gmail.com. Prior to completing the form, please take the time to review the tournament program philosophy document to ensure you understand the commitment required. In addition to the information contained within the document, please review the points below that are specific to the Grade 6 program.

The program will run from November 10 to May 1 (approximately).
Practices will take place once per week. Twice per week following the GVBL recreation season.
We will participate in a travel team winter league (e.g., Malvern or ICBA). Games will be held primarily on Saturdays.
We will participate in approximately 4-6 tournaments, including a Christmas tournament. Cost will be approximately $500 plus uniform costs. Additional costs may be incurred if the $500 (collected at the beginning of the season) does not fully cover the cost of the tournaments.

The Grade 6 Girls Tournament Team will have two open gym sessions on Sunday Nov. 2nd and Sunday Nov. 9th from 10:30 - 12:00. Regular practices will commence Sunday Nov. 16th from 10:30 - 12:00. In order to be considered for the team a completed sign up form will be required by October 22nd. Please complete the form and email it to Brian Ray at brian.ray@us.mcd.com. Prior to completing the form, please take the time to review the tournament program philosophy document to ensure you understand the commitment required. In addition to the information contained within the document, please review the points below that are specific to the Grade 6 program.

The program will run from November 2 to June 1 (approximately).

We will participate in approximately 8-10 tournaments including a Christmas tournament.

THE FIRST RUNNIFER EVENT WAS A GREAT SUCCESS!
Over 800 runners and walkers participated in the first Runnifer on Sunday September 14, 2014. The event was a tremendous display of community support. Additional information on the Jennifer Stagnaro Memorial Fund information is available at www.TheRunnifer.com. Donations can be made below.

GVBL AND THE GVBL CENTER
The Great Valley Basketball League is designed to be an instructional youth basketball league for kids within the Great Valley School District, serving the 1st through the 12th grades. The purpose of the program is to create a fun experience for the kids, playing and learning the game of basketball, while competing within their peers from the surrounding community. The GVBL Center is located at 19 North Bacton Hill Rd, Malvern, PA, near the intersection of Bacton Hill and Swedesford Rd.

The GVBL Center and Great Valley Community Center are entities of The Great Valley Community Organization ("GVCO") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the taxcode provided by the Internal Revenue Service. The purpose of GVCO includes providing multi-use indoors facilities for community activities, focusing on youth athletics, senior citizen activities and to further community, recreational, charitable and educational programs and events.
